We are proud to partner with the KIDS Center for the 2012 Happy Girls Half Marathon, 5K and Happy Little KIDS Runs.

KIDS Center has been in our community since 1994 and is dedicated to the prevention, evaluation and treatment of child abuse.

KIDS Center offers a safe and caring environment for our children to share their stories of neglect, sexual and physical abuse with trained professionals one time and begin their path to healing. It is a place that is inviting to children, filled with toys, teddy bears, games and smiling faces. KIDS Center is based on a medical model child advocacy center offering a full circle approach to preventing, evaluating and treating child abuse including medical evaluations, child friendly forensic interviews, family support, therapy and prevention education.

In 2011, nearly 400 children received medical evaluations, 450 families were received Family Support Services and close to 250 children received therapy treatment, all at no cost to the family.  We offer these services to Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties as well as Warm Springs Indian Reservation. We are proud to say that nearly 6, 000 Central Oregon adults have joined the child abuse prevention effort by attending our “Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children” child sexual abuse prevention trainings.  In 2011, we launched a new Internet Safety Training to teach parents how to keep their kids safe while navigating the internet.

Lay It Out Events is proud to support a local nonprofit at every one of our events – festivals and races. In 2011, we contributed close to $9,000 to the KIDS Center from Happy Girls and as a company, donated a total of $50,000 in 2011 to nonprofits such as Saving Grace, The Ronald McDonald House, The Center Foundation, DeChutes Historical Museum and Bend Endurance Adademy
